Dreamphonic is a musical collaboration between Ted Johnson and Jamie McMenamy. They blend their experience as improvisational electronic musicians to create an enveloping mix of atmospheric textures, trance inducing grooves and otherworldy melodies. Dreamphonic’s sound spans genres including ambient, space, electronic dance, dub, psychedelic, downtempo, world, rock and experimental music. All of Dreamphonic's music is conceived and recorded live and on the fly.
Jamie McMenamy
Jamie makes his career as an audio designer for video games and is involved with many solo and collaborative musical projects. Some of Jamie’s previous and ongoing projects include the ambient music of Unius and his guitar oriented project, jamAxis. His sound design and interactive audio work appears in popular video games from Oddworld Inhabitants and Insomniac Games.
Ted Johnson
Ted Johnson has played in a number of nu-jazz, electronica and ambient music groups, including National Holographic (with Jason King) and Groove Stream Attractor. He also hosts a regular series of jam sessions with local musicians (collectively named Random FX) in his home studio.
Dreamphonic convenes regularly to jam and record in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where the sessions are captured in high resolution. The tracks are then mixed down and distributed for world wide listening pleasure.
